"Music exists for the purpose of growing a beautiful heart."

Welcome to Shively Piano Studio!

Emily Shively uses the Suzuki method of music education. This approach gives the child the ability to play first by ear, developing beautiful tone and musicality before learning theory and music reading. Parents are thoroughly involved in their child’s piano lessons and act as a home coach, facilitating practice times. Parents are encouraged to start their child’s lessons as young as 3 years of age, but it is never too late to begin the journey of musical exploration!

Here are a few reasons to choose Emily and the Suzuki Method:

  • Parents do not need any musical history. The Suzuki Method gives opportunity for parent to      learn alongside the student.
  • Students are able to start at a much younger age than with traditional lessons, allowing them to advance more quickly.
  • Positive energy and loves working with children and believes every child has potential.
  • Warm and encouraging atmosphere with in home studio.

What Parents are saying:

Emily was a great teacher when my son started taking piano lessons. She was super patient yet diligent with teaching him good technique. She was always positive and made it fun for him to learn.

We are so thankful we found the Suzuki method for piano training and music appreciation. It has help us in training our children basic disciplines and life lessons beyond piano skills. It’s a pleasure for our daughter to receive piano lessons from Emily Shively. Her warm personality and positive teaching approach has made coming to lessons each week a delight for our daughter. I’m always impressed with Emily’s creative ideas. She incorporates games and fun during repetitions and other aspects of the lessons - something I wish I myself had enjoyed as a young piano student. We highly recommend Emily to other parents for Suzuki piano training.
— Bridget, Mother of student
My daughter’s first piano experience was with Emily, and I was immediately impressed with how quickly she progressed under Emily’s talent and care. Emily is very patient, encouraging, and detailed, and the result is a mutual partnership toward enjoyment and success rather than pressure to meet certain expectations under specific timelines. I would highly recommend Emily as a piano tutor to anyone, young or old.
